Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractic Adjustment
A chiropractic adjustment, which is also called a spinal, manual, or chiropractic manipulation, is a common therapeutic method used to treat neck pain, lower back pain, and headaches. Here at our Farmingdale, NJ Shade Chiropractic, LLC office, our chiropractor, Dr. Brian R. Shade, D.C. applies manipulation to your vertebrae that are not functioning properly or have abnormal movement patterns. The goal is to increase range of motion, reduce nerve irritability and subluxation, and improve function.

Your Chiropractic Adjustment Procedure
There is no special preparation needed to get you ready for this chiropractic adjustment treatment. On your first visit, Dr. Shade performs a physical exam and asks you questions about your health history. During the exam, he focuses a lot on your spine. He may take x-rays if needed.

During your chiropractic manipulation treatment, he places you in certain positions (usually lying face down) on his padded chiropractic table to treat the affected areas. He uses his hands and applies sudden, controlled force to your joint to push it beyond its regular range of motion. During this time, you might hear a cracking or popping sound.

Dr. Shade also performs approaches for controlling pain and improving soft tissue healing. Depending on your injury or specific ailment, he might also discuss with you techniques for improving strength, muscle balance, and coordination through stretching and strengthening exercise. He’ll also provide you with education on how to improve your motor control and posture.

Overall, chiropractic adjustments are a great way help improve and maintain your body’s good functioning. Give us a call at 732-751-9500 to set up your appointment with our Farmingdale chiropractor, Dr. Shade for some manipulation and adjustments of your own.
